Hood College offers online course evaluation. Effective fall 2014, a web-based evaluation tool called SmartEvals replaced the paper-based evaluation.
The SmartEvals system is an easy way for students to provide completely anonymous feedback to faculty about their learning experiences. Each term, students will receive an email asking them to complete evaluations for their classes. They are allowed two weeks to complete the evaluation for each of their courses.
Faculty will not receive any evaluation results until all grades have been submitted and will never receive any information about who submitted which responses. Also, faculty will not be able to determine which students completed evaluations and which did not.
Following the end of the evaluation period, and once all grades are submitted, an email will be sent to faculty informing them of the availability of their course evaluation results. In addition to viewing the results, faculty can also download them into an Excel, PDF or HTML file.
The online course evaluation is using a single sign-on technology via our Blackboard system.
Step 1: Login to Blackboard.
Step 2: Click on any course link listed under "My Courses" to enter a Blackboard course site.
Step 3: Click on the "Course Evaluation button" in your Blackboard course site. This button will allow faculty and students to automatically login to the SmartEvals system.
For first-time faculty users, if you are unable to login, that means your administrator has not entered your information in the system yet. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
For returning faculty, you will have access to your previous evaluation reports or current reports when they are released.
Students will only have access during the evaluation period.
