FREDERICK, Maryland—The Frederick Portrait Group will present portraits and sculptures from 25 of its members in the Hodson Gallery in the College’s Tatem Arts Center Aug. 25 through Oct. 15 as part of the 125th anniversary celebration of Hood.
The Frederick Portrait Group is open to regional area artists, Hood art students and Hood faculty who are dedicated to portraiture and figurative art. Participating artists are not limited by style or approach and work in all graphic and painting mediums. The artists offer a diverse range of style, expertise, and experience.
“An important by-product of this mix is that it promotes and inspires our artists to discuss their work and learn from each other during the continuing painting process,” said Jenna Gianni, gallery director. “Perhaps the most important advantage resulting from this interactive creative environment has been the artists’ networking, which has produced a very strong and meaningful support system.”
The goal of the Frederick Portrait Group is to further the development of portrait and figurative art to area artists and art students and extend art education, art availability and art appreciation to our community and beyond.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, and the gallery will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For more information, contact Gianni at 240-315-6846 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
